چکیده

This paper focuses on the reaction zone and soot emission characteristics of swirl spray flames iso-pentanol blends. OH planar laser induced fluorescence (PLIF) measurements were used to study lift-off local extinction features. Soot was investigated using time-resolved two-colour incandescence (2C-LII) diagnostic technique. Fuels in this n-heptane, iso-pentanol, ethanol blends n-heptane/iso-pentanol n-heptane/ethanol. Different operating conditions tested categorized into three flame types including stable, near blow-off, far away from blow-off. A clear double sheet structure appeared most flames, referred as inner outer regions study. Also, all other than pure displayed an open-up a cone-like “V” shape. Results stable blow-off showed that addition n-heptane caused become more attached bluff-body. In increased occurrence extinctions. Whereas decreased occurrences extinction. Across conditions, impact height by less n-heptane. found compared mixture. volume fraction flame, reduced fractions lower level flame.

Diagnostics of Reactive Zone in Premixed Flames via Acetone-OH Simultaneous PLIF

Imaging scheme based on Acetone-OH simultaneous PLIF (Planer Laser-Induced Fluorescence) is applied for diagnostics of reactive zone over the premixed flames and the reactive zone imaging are demonstrated for turbulent premixed flame conditions. In the present study, visualization of reactive zone is brought by simultaneous measurement of unburned zone through acetone (seeded into the fuel flow...

Detailed Analysis of iso-Pentanol Combustion Chemistry in Flames

In this study, two flames of iso-pentanol were stabilized on a 60-mm flat flame burner at a low pressure of 15 Torr and analyzed by a flame-sampling molecular-beam setup coupled to a mass spectrometer (MBMS). Singlephoton ionization by synchrotron-generated vacuum-UV radiation with high energy resolution (E/∆E ∼0.04 eV) and/or electron ionization was combined with a custom-built reflectron time...

Simultaneous planar laser-induced incandescence, OH planar laser-induced fluorescence, and droplet Mie scattering in swirl-stabilized spray flames.

Simultaneous planar laser-induced incandescence, hydroxyl radical planar laser-induced fluorescence, and droplet Mie scattering are used to study the instantaneous flame structure and soot formation process in an atmospheric pressure, swirl-stabilized, liquid-fueled, model gas-turbine combustor. Optimal excitation and detection schemes to maximize single-shot signals and avoid interferences fro...

Measurements of Conditional Velocities in Turbulent Premixed Flames by Simultaneous OH PLIF and PIV

Joint velocity/scalar imaging measurements are performed in turbulent premixed natural-gas/air flames to better characterize the turbulent flux of mean reaction progress variable, ru0c0. Simultaneous two-dimensional measurements of the velocity field and the relative OH concentration are obtained by particle image velocimetry (PIV) and planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) of the OH radical,...

Direct numerical simulations and analysis of three-dimensional n-heptane spray flames in a model swirl combustor

Three-dimensional n-heptane spray flames in a swirl combustor are investigated by means of direct numerical simulation (DNS) to provide insight into realistic spray evaporation and combustion as well as relevant modeling issues. The variable-density, low-Mach number Navier–Stokes equations are solved using a fully conservative and kinetic energy conserving finite difference scheme in cylindrica...
